We are very excited to announce the lead on our festival art direction for 2025…Freya Wysocki. The heartbeat of each SFTOC is the Art Direction; the artists who create these temporary worlds are the reason that NME described us as “Anarchic. Bonkers. Creative & totally DIY antidote to corporate festivals.”
Who is Freya Wysocki?
Freya’s practice playfully constructs camp, queer and energetic worlds through textiles and sculpture. Their work emanates joy, connecting with the viewer through a tender, silly and sensual tactility. Using art as a tool for social change is essential to Freya, and they often facilitate banner-making workshops for protests, campaigns and communities. Freya is based at Paradise Works in Salford.
2025’s Art Direction
Jump into a birthday party gone wrong! Dance a conga line with a demon, get lost in a world of giant confetti and float away with a bunch of evil balloons. We welcome the debaucherous birthday spirits! We dance with them and they bring us more mischief! More queer! More of everything riotous and noisy!
Sustainability Statement
At SFTOC, we are committed to embodying sustainability: both in how we do things, and how we work with others, too. Freya’s work is prioritising recycled and recyclable materials – even the balloons are made out of cardboard! You might notice decor from previous years popping up around our site too, as part of our promise to be regenerative and eliminate single use materials. You can read more about that here.
