The Golden Dregs

The project of baritone-voiced songwriter Benjamin Woods, The Golden Dregs puts a premium on storytelling, citing Raymond Carver and Lydia Davis as primary influences. Alongside a band, he released a pair of albums in 2018 and 2019, then teamed up with London-based artist Vogues and a collection of guest singers for the next year’s Sorry for Your Loss EP, spiking Woods’ shambly indie rock with electronic elements. A change of fortune, including a pandemic and job loss, prompted a move and a return to his more organic origins on 2023’s On Grace & Dignity, his debut for 4AD.
