Samrai has spent years putting music to work. Based in Manchester since the mid-2000s, his output has developed alongside long-term involvement in youth work, organising, publishing and cultural education. As a co-founder of Swing Ting and SEEN Magazine, he’s helped build platforms for voices often left out of the conversation, while his own releases, commissions and performances – including Work & Roti and subsequent solidarity projects – sit inside a wider commitment to social justice and collective responsibility. When Samrai appears on a lineup, he brings that context with him, as shared experience carried into sound.
+ jumping on the decks alongside him, none other than Manchester’s very own very own, Mr Scruff.
He needs no introduction, but incase you want one anyway… Once Mr Scruff was plain Andy Carthy. And then he wasn’t… Sometime artist, DJ, Peak District wanderer, and all around musical “good egg”.
