Regulars of Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here festival and favorited last year by the late Virgil Abloh for their collaboration with Ruf Dug, Lovescene have smashed onto the neo-soul and RnB scene over the past couple of years. They are now releasing their debut self-titled album, part-funded by the MOBO Help Musicians grant. Marrying 90s RnB and often compared to Sade, their sound covers funk, soul, broken beat, cinematic jazz and everything in between.
Fronted by the charismatic Pops Roberts, the band are a powerhouse of some of the best musicians in the North West and beyond – Alex Hill (Lieko Quintet), Ben Price (8 Gold Rings), Ruben Sheridan (Mr Mustard) Jack Duckham (SNG, Mr Mustard) & Adisa Allen (Vulpine). They have collaborated with names such as Zed Bias, Swing Ting, Wolf Music, Ruf Dug, Dub Phizix, Finn, The North Quarter and performed alongside Norman Jay MBE.
