Volunteers greeting us all

2016 brought treats from far and wide to the streets of Salford, from Gwenno’s cosmic pop and London mcs Flohio and Cassive to 2016’s hottest new band, Pumarosa, SFTOC is a festival created for and by music lovers.

We saw everything from the Chrononautz’s outsider techno to the avant garde folk of Laura Cannell and we welcomed new promotors Café Oto, The QuietusHeavenly Recordings and The White Hotel. We also saw comedy night ShamBodie take over Bexley Square that included a stellar performance from now BAFTA winner Sophie Willan.  Visual artist himHallows took over the art direction for the year with stage set designs, costumes and impromptu performances across the festival site, culminating in a haunted ‘Sea Captain’s Ball’ at midnight.

And for the first time festival goers  where able to join us from across the globe as we witnessed the birth of SFTOC.TV and online radio station NTS joined us for a one-off Sunday broadcast.
