Faktion vs. Wet Play @ The Old Pint Pot

Faktion promote music before most people even know it exists. They have booked an incredible & select list of artists over eight years of venue and shape-shifting manoeuvres, including but not limited to – Shangaan Electro, Raime, Hieroglyphic Being, Omar Souleyman, Kode 9, Actress, Demdike Stare, Monolake, Shackleton, Rhythm & Sound, Shed, & Convextion - giving all their first shows in Manchester. Currently they lay down their sword all over the city from the upstairs room at Gullivers to the club space at Islington Mill, needless to say they don’t serve up your ordinary kind of show.
In the words of the prophet Isaiah “The wilderness and the waterless region will exult, and the desert plain will be joyful and blossom… For in wilderness waters will have burst out…“ (Isaiah 35:1, 6) and lo and behold over 2000 years later Wet Play arrived. The ethos is such like; “Whereby outstanding individuals gather…(Drop the soap)…(Feeling a tingle)… With cuddles from old friends and gentle nibbles with your lifestyle individuals. Meaningful opportunities have, and will develop, installing a pathway to victory. For those prepared to take the swing find community and membership = no longer seeking healing.” Previous drenches have included performances from Maria Minerva, Ital, Seahawks & Deep Space Orchestra.
For SFTOC, Faktion & Wet Play are locking heads for the first time. Be on your guard

The cult around the band and their lone release, the Pre-Release EP, continued to grow until in 2011 some mysterious 12″ bootlegs of Like U began to appear, with edits by Joe Goddard of Hot Chip. A few months later self released white labels begin to circulate with new Gramme material. Those recent EP’s have gone on to form Fascination, the first full studio album by Gramme.
‘Gramme are amazing and have influenced Hot Chip a lot over the years, it just sounds great when they play together’ – Joe Goddard

The bio on RUFDUG’s website says everything we ever could and more, so we’ll leave it to that:
“Look man I don’t like this bio shit…. I tried a few different ones and they don’t work. My records are raw tracks for the club that fuck around with the concept of copyright a bit but nodody’s making $$$$ so it’s all good. I had my first record on Popular Peoples Front and then powered up by Ruf Kutz, we done a few releases now and they all go for beads on discogs.”

Forgemasters were among the earliest originators of the style of U.K. techno known as bleep, which combined elements of electro, techno, new wave, and Euro-pop into a heavily syncopated, highly synthetic mix of machine-born rhythms and electronics. One of the founding members of the legendary WARP record label, it is an honour to be able to welcome Robert Gordon to Salford under the SFTOC banner.

Growing tired of the traditional steel forging methods of their forefathers, a group of Sheffield assembly line workers one day decided to try and spice things up a bit. Smuggling in sacks filled to the brimful with house, garage, grime and UK Funky, they stayed behind after lights-out, fired up the furnace and shoveled in their contraband, cranking the temperature up to ‘DANGEROUSLY HOT’ as they worked. Suddenly, with a tremendous bang and a blaze of gun-fingers, the pressure levels hit the roof and out burst their creation: Walter Ego.

Mista Men have been on the circuit for a few years now, two lads from the northern town of Doncaster, taking musical influences from UK Garage, the Bassline scene in close-by Sheffield and the party scene of Leeds.
